I’ve trained with Erik for almost 5 years now. I’ve followed him from gym to gym and when he finally took the plunge and opened up Iron Fit Circuit Training at Stone Oak, I immediately joined! Erik’s always been a great trainer, but since venturing out with his own gym and being able to utilize his own methodology of instruction, I have seen fantastic results!
Before Iron Fit, I trained on a pretty regular basis but never ever really took it to that next level. With Erik, I’ve been able to do just that! I began training 5-6 days a week, always setting a goal to achieve whether it be participation in an obstacle course race or some other event, I found it becoming easy to push myself with Erik’s guidance!
My most recent accomplishment with Iron Fit began this past January with a 12 week Fitness Challenge. I had been determined that I wasn’t going to do it as I had done weight loss challenges before, but I never took them seriously and never got anything out of them; but his time, something was telling me to follow through with it, so I joined the week before the challenge began. For whatever reason, this time I found myself determined and focused. My initial goal was to just get under 200 pounds by the end of the 12 weeks, which seemed unrealistic.
The first week was the toughest, but Erik was always there with encouragement and words of wisdom to push through the difficult times. Erik taught all of us, there was more to fitness and weight loss than just exercise and in order to transform our bodies, we needed to learn the tools to a healthier lifestyle. I took everything Erik taught me to heart as he monitored and pushed us each and every day.
Through it all, I had made the decision to make the necessary sacrifices needed to be successful and in 12 weeks, I had lost a whopping 39.5 pounds!! 16.93% of my body weight!!! I went from 233.3 pounds at the start of the challenge, and on day 90, I weighed in at 193.8 pounds!! I not only met my initial goal, but I surpassed it and was under 200 pounds for the first time since college! I had not just ‘lost weight’ though; at the age of 47, I am presently the leanest and strongest I’ve ever been! I’ve made some of the best friends anyone could ever ask for!! If you were to look at my 90 day picture (and squint), you can even make out abs!! 🙂

I have been a member of Iron Fit Circuit Training since July 2014. Prior to joining, I’d spent over 30 years working out in big clubs during prime time. It became increasingly difficult to get a good workout in a jam packed gym. I spent an average of 2.5 hours a day in the gym and walked out feeling like I’d accomplished nothing which was both frustrating and discouraging.
Iron Fit was recommended to me by a friend. I was definitely ready for something new. I hoped to find a way to become motivated again. I needed a program without all the guess work. I decided it was time to give Iron Fit a try during a free trial offer.
I wasn’t sure what I was getting into whether this was a hardcore CrossFit gym, what the movements would be like and whether or not I could even do them. I worried my body wouldn’t be up to the task due to middle age.
Iron Fit is like nothing I have ever experienced before. Erik Guerra has created the ultimate exercise experience, with a no nonsense approach, which is accomplished through a one-hour class. It’s hard work, he offers constant variety and the results are nothing short of amazing. The Iron Fit workouts are specific and structured, I know what to expect as far what we are training for that day. Since joining Iron Fit, I have strengthened my core, lost weight and many inches while remaining injury free. Erik takes pride in every client and is personally vested in their success. He balances the right amount of weight training, cardio exercise and provides exceptional nutritional guidance.
Iron Fit has allowed me to consistently improve my level of fitness by working smarter and more efficiently; every rep counts and no time or energy is wasted! I am extremely pleased with my results and feel like I am in the best shape of my life at age 55. I’ve lost over 20 lbs. in 3 months, competed in several races and obstacle course runs, and my energy levels are through the roof. Before training at Iron Fit Circuit Training I was working out at Gold’s Gym doing my own workouts. I was always into fitness and running but just tried doing it on my own. Years ago I even hired a trainer to help me figure out what workouts would work for my body. But I just wasn’t seeing the results I wanted . I needed something more and started searching.
I was on Groupon one day and saw iron fit gym being advertised so I looked at the description of the gym and figure “hey why not give it a try for 30 days to see how I like it”. After those 30 days were up, I wanted more. I decided to sign up to keep these workouts consistently going.
Since being a member here I lost an overall 20 pounds in 12 weeks. I learned how to eat better (because I thought I was already eating well), discipline and motivated myself by staying committed to what Erik had lined up for success.
I feel a lot better about myself today. I still have to buy new clothes because most don’t fit me. My body enjoys the healthy food I have trained it for and knows when I eat crap. I am more confident in myself but I know I still have more goals to meet.
The team here is like a little family. Everyone helps each other out, motivates each other and is caring over all. I like the fact that it isn’t like a Crossfit gym or any other gym I’ve been to. I also love how we do strength training sessions on specific days and cardio sessions on the other days, so I know what to expect that day. My biggest fear was bulking up but actually the complete opposite has happened, I am the leanest I have ever been and feel absolutely amazing!!
I’m glad I train with the best group I’ve ever been a part of and thank Erik for guiding me to improve my form, providing a nutrition guide to help my eating lifestyle and always kicking my ass every day with the intense workouts he creates.
